As exciting as it is to run your own business, it can take many attempts to get it right. That is a great way to learn. But there are some things, I wish I had done better when launching my very first business in Vienna, Austria.
As a mom of three very little children, at the time, I wanted to set up a business to help support our family. Coming from a corporate background, I knew what corporates needed in terms of marketing and communication. I launched straight in and offered my services.
I had some great exchanges with some of the leadership I met, and they were very much interested in the content I had to offer. But, what I was lacking was a clear understanding of the procurement process and timeline to get a decision.
For an entrepreneur like me with three little ones depending on me, this created a huge issue. But realizing the changes I needed to make, I went back to the drawing board and succeeded in reaching clients whose process was more in line with my own needs to come to agreements more swiftly.
